With its economic hegemony in the region, the magnificent city of Ardabil is one of the 30 provinces of Iran. It is located 400 km northwest of Tehran, and south of Zanjan Province. To the east, the agglomeration of Ardabil enjoys good proximity to the Talesh mountain range and splendidly borders the Caspian Sea to the west. The name Ardabil is derived from a Zoroastrian term, Artavil, designating a citadel and meaning "holy place". It is a dazzling city filled with many interesting attractions to explore.
Ardabil is on an open plain, just east of Mount Savalan, which is the highest point in this region. There are also many bodies of water that you will be able to see in this sublime place. Lake Ne'or is located in a mountainous area southeast of the city of Ardabil. As for that of Shoorabil, it is located in a hilly area south of the city. You will have the opportunity to rest in the recreation complex of Shoorabil located just near Lake Shoorabil. The winters are very cold and the summers are temperate.
Among the tourist assets of this fascinating city, you will observe the spectacular mausoleum of Sheik Jebra. This historical monument of capital importance is located 2 km north of Ardabil and has several buildings. You will also see Babadavood Anbaran, which is the city bazaar and the Friday Mosque of Ardabil. Many traces of historical monuments have been found in the villages forming the beautiful landscape of Ardabil.
For people who know about tapestry, the name may make them think of the famous Ardabil carpet from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. This carpet was made in Kashan, but it took place in the mosque of Ardabil. Subsequently, it was sold so that the money from its sale could be used to repair the mosque. You will see all kinds of rugs, each more elegant than the other. The carpets of this city are fine with geometric patterns of beautiful artisanship. Even today, a large part of the production consists of good quality runners.
